The SLK 350 has no real BMW rival except the Roadster S, as BMW has denied that there will be a Z4M. The author views the Roadster S as being sufficiently sporty to be able to be viewed as an M-alternative. It also has one of the most economical engines in its class.
Although the suspension of the Roadster S is not as harsh as the SLK 350, it is quite a bit faster on the Hockenheim track. For long distances, the SLK 350 is preferred as the noise level is much lower due to the steel roof.
The Roadster S has a higher price than the SLK 350, however this is not the case when options are taken into account.
