  • Introduction

The B3 3.2 is the succesor to the B3 3.0.

With the introduction by BMW of the M3 3.2 with 321hp in late 1995, Alpina needed to replace the B3 3.0.
In April 1996, the B3 3.2 was introduced, based on the new 328i.

    Engine/Gearbox

The B3 3.2 engine is based on BMW´s 2.8 liter six-cylinder which produce 193 bhp and 280 Nm. Alpina has increased the displacement to 3.2 litre, fitted Mahle lightweight pistons, modified the combustion chambers, reprogrammed the Siemens engine management-system and fitted a new exhaust system. This allows the Alpina 3.2 liter engine to produce 265 bhp and 330 Nm.

Available gearboxes were the manual 6-speed Getrag gearbox or 5-speed Switchtronic gearbox.

    Suspension/Brakes/Wheels

The B3 3.2 received a new front stabilizer and new rear springs and stabilizer. The brakes are uprated with bigger discs, ventilated at front, with floating calipers.

    Interior/Exterior

For the B3 3.2, Alpina introduced a new front spoiler.

    Performance

Even though the B3 3.2 is not as powerful as the M3 3.2, it is nearly as fast. Alpina claims a 0-100 km/h time of 5,9 seconds and a top speed of over 260 km/h.

    In Auto Motor und Sport´s test the B3 3.2 accelerated from 0-100 km/h in 5,9 seconds, 0-160 km/h in 13,9 and 0-200 in 23,2 seconds.

    Production

In April 1996 the B3 3.2 was introduced. The production ended in 1999 and a total of 342 B3 3.2 were built.
