  • Introduction

    The M-series engines are based on the N63B44 engine from the BMW 750i with 408hp (300kW) and 600Nm.

    M1

    The M1 engine was introduced in the F01 B7 BiTurbo in early 2009. It was the first bi-turbo V8 engine for Alpina.

    Modifications include custom Alpina engine block, cylinder heads and internal parts. Also installed are new turbochargers (in partnership with Garrett Honeywell) and forged pistons.

    Heat management is improved by installing custom Alpina cooling package with radiator, engine oil cooler, transmission oil cooler, as well as extensive custom Alpina air ducting and intercooler. Also, an additional electric water pump is installed.

    M1/1

    The additional 33PS from the M1 are achieved with new turbo compressors, upgraded cooling package, extensive new air ducting and software modifications.

    M2/1

    This engine is based on the first technical update of the N63B44 engine with Valvetronic. The focus was on improved fuel consumption and emissions.

    M2/2

    The additional 60PS from the M2/1 are achieved by improved air intakes, larger turbos and higher boost pressure.

    M3

    The M3 engine is based on the second technical update of the N63B44 engine. It was introduced in the G12 B7 BiTurbo in early 2016.

    M5

    The M5 engine is based on the third technical update of the N63B44 engine. It was introduced in the facelift version of the G12 B7 BiTurbo in early 2019.

    The focus was on compliance with the new WLTP emission test procedures. Peak performance figures were not improved, however peak power and torque is available over a larger range.
