The P-series engines are based on the BMW N57 diesel turbo engine.
The P1 engine is based on the N57D30B (T1) twin-turbo diesel engine from the BMW 535d with 308bhp (230kW) and 630Nm. The engine block and internal parts were not modified by Alpina. Extensive modifications were made to the cooling package and intake system. A custom intercooler, manifold and exhaust system were developed.
This engine was introduced in the F1x D5 BiTurbo in late 2011.

The P2 engine is based on the N57D30B (O1) single-turbo diesel engine from the BMW 530d with 255bhp (190kW) and 560Nm. The engine block and internal parts were not modified by Alpina. Extensive modifications were made to the cooling package, intercooler, intake system and exhaust, complimented with parts from the 535d.
This engine was introduced in the F10 D5 Turbo in 2012.
