The B7 and S55 AMG are similar in specification with almost identical power, torque and pricing. The S55 AMG is praised for its interior which is easy to use where the B7 is handicapped by its E65 basis. As these type of cars are especially meant as long-distance executive saloons, ergonomics and comfort are very important. Both cars are very comfortable despite their 21" wheels and sports suspension. Of course on a tight slalom neither car excels. The engine sound of both cars is almost inaudible when required but under full acceleration the engine sound is very enjoyable. The B7's engine is quite a bit more economical than the S55 AMG - up to 3 liters per 100km. The brakes on the B7 are excellent both cold and hot. The conclusion is that the B7 wins slightly on points due to offering the perfect mix of sportscar and limousine. |
