Brief introduction of the upcoming B7 - almost a year before start of production in March 2004. The article describes the technical details of the centrifugal compressor, which is a combination of traditional compressor and turbo. An additional throttle makes the engine run in regular atmospheric mode at low engine speeds but to be pressurized at higher engine speeds. This results in engine performance resembling a massive atmospheric engine. Alpina has submitted a patent application on this solution. Furthermore, the suspension setup of the B7 makes it feel much smaller and more agile than would be expected from its 2 ton weight. |
