The decision behind the B7 engine was based on weight savings of 150kg versus a tuned version of the V12 engine. A detailed technical description of the ASA centrifugal compressor is provided which makes for interesting reading. To ensure the B7 engine would perform well in daily life it underwent heat testing in Dubai - the test criteria was 50km at topspeed at an outdoor temperature of 48C. |
